My Educational Philosophy seems to be in constant motion and flux.
As I learn and gain experience my ideas shift and change accordingly.
At this point I like to keep my explanation of my Educational Philosophy simple; Education and learning needs to be student centered, based in exploration and discovery. I have a passion for speech and language and it is an important part of learning, so language revitalization is also a part of my educational philosophy. Indigenization of education seems to fit naturally into my philosophy as I feel hands on experiences guided by student inquiry has many connections with Traditional First Nation and Metis world views.
My role as an educator is to guide the students and facilitate the learning experiences. I believe strongly for the need for students to be self-motivated learners and become passionate about the world around them.
Here is an article that helps articulate my play based and inquiry based learning philosophy.
Be prepared for me to add and adjust my educational philosophy over time.
